FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS BY STUDENTS DESIROUS OF PURSUING B.TECH AND DIPLOMA IN ENGINEERING COURSES

Q1) IS THE UNIVERSITY AICTE APPROVED ?

ANS : The Engineering Courses are conducted by the Swami Vivekananda University,Sagar, Madhya Pradesh. The University is UGC AIU Approved but not AICTE approved as it is not mandatory on the part of the AICTE to approve an University in view of the Honorable Supreme Court judgment in Bharthiadarshan University vs AICTE. Kindly go through the AICTE Circular in this regard. But the syllabus of the engineering courses of the University is at par with AICTE and it can be seen in the admission form and university website regarding approval of the courses by AICTE The other courses are approved by the relevant and appropriate authorities.

Q2) WHAT IS THE RECOGNITION OF THE DIPLOMA / DEGREE CERTIFICATES ?

ANS : The certificates awarded by the University is UGC AIU approved & AICTE approved course and hence eligible for appearing in all competitive examinations of State/ Central government. All companies in Govt. and Private Sectors value the certificates for employment..

Q3) WHAT IS THE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION IN YOUR INSTITUTE ?

ANS : Minimum 35% marks at Secondary School Level for 3 year Diploma Course and HS (PCM) or State Approved Vocational Course with minimum of 35% marks.In addition we consider only those who have a valid JEXPO/ VOCLET/ JEE Rank. For B.Tech minimum 45% marks at HS Science (PCM) level is considered subject to WBJEE Rank upto 10000 score.

Q4) IS THIS ENGINEERING COURSE A DISTANCE LEARNING COURSE ?

ANS : No, AICTE does not recognise technical courses under Distance Learning Mode. Students will be required to appear for their university exams in the nominated centers of the university within the State Jurisdiction of the University as per the UGC rules on territorial jurisdiction and the syllabus or course must be approved by AICTE .The students need to undergo the technical studies in theory and practicals at the University end for a minimum mandatory period as per prescribed rules and regulation of the University as per the present policy , rules and regulations of University and UGC. The students are to give the semester exams at the university end at Sagar,M.P at their own cost and risks

Q5) CAN WE DO B.TECH FROM YOUR INSTITUTE ?

ANS : Yes, you can do so after completing your Diploma and take lateral admission where the duration will be 3 years. Otherwise HS qualified (PCM) 45% marks for general students and 40% for OBC, SC, ST, Minority students are eligible to do B.Tech courses but those students who have already appeared in JELET or WBJEE will have automatic admission. Other students will may be admitted subject to higher academic record and taking an entrance test equivalent to JEE levels.Those students who have already done their diploma from the above University can take direct admission in the University.

Q6) CAN I APPEAR IN JELET EXAMS WITH THIS UNIVERSITY CERTIFICATE ?

ANS: Yes.Many of our students have appeared in the JELET Exams in the past.

Q7) CAN I DO B.TECH UNDER MAKAUT COLLEGES OF BENGAL ?

ANS : Yes since you are eligible to appear in the JELET Exams you can also get admitted to the Engineering Colleges under MAKAUT subject to satisfying the ranking criteria etc.

Q8) I AM A WORKING EXECUTIVE. CAN I STUDY DIPLOMA OR BTECH ?

ANS : No.

Q9) IS THE REGISTRATION DONE ONLINE OR HARD COPY GIVEN ?

ANS : All submissions and uploading of the academic documents relating to registrations are to be done online by the students from their end and soft copy of registration is issued by the University which should be downloaded by the student himself/herself. No hard copy is issued by the university as per present rules and procedures. The students are advised to keep laminated copy of the soft copy of such registrations for their future references and use. No request for issue of hard copy of the registration certificate or admit card will be entertained by the University or the Institute.

Q10) HOW ARE THE PRACTICALS AND WORKSHOPS DONE ?

ANS: The practicals in so far as the syllabus are concerned is done in course of the training at the Institute itself so as to satisfy the relevant practicals as per the industry expectations. But for the Diploma in Engineering courses the practical of Hydraulics Lab and Fluid Mechanics , Lathe, CNC Machines, Radial Drilling, Casting etc,will be done through visual presentations and if possible through industry interface.

The various Civil Engineering practicals that is Survey, AutoCAD, Design and Drawings and tests like Vicat, Slump Cone , G.I Sieve, Proctor test are also done in the Institute. The students will also have to do field visits to various construction sites, railway sites to witness the construction activities, methods ,process and quality checks and various construction equipments in use as well as their functions. These Construction site activities will be done on a regular basis.

The Mechanical Engineering students shall do workshop trainings which will have physical exposure to various machines like welding, vices, jigs, internal combustion engine, gears, motors, compressors, refrigeration, carpentry, portable generators, air conditioners, calipers, hand tools, verniers, etc are done in the Institute itself. The other practicals like Milling,Drilling, Lathe , CNC Engineering ,Castings, etc will be done through industry interface and industrial internships. The practical and workshops will be all oriented towards industry requirements and those practical which are not possible to be conducted in the Institute shall be done through visual aids with Power Point presentations and by downloading the features from the websites etc.

The Electrical Engineering students will do practicals in the Institute on various Electronic and Electrical Gadgets, Compressors, Ammeter, Voltmeter, Wattmeter, Multimeter, Starters, Switches, Transformers, Ohmmeter, Megger, High Voltage Tester, Portable Generators and they will have to do extensive industrial visits and internships , field works on Transformers, Transmission lines, Control Panel Assembly and other similar works.

The Computer Engineering students will have hands on experience in developing basic programs pictures from the various sources. Regarding those students who are doing Diploma in Computer Scienc or BCA will be doing hands on practicals in programming in C, C++, Java, Oracle,Dot net, etc with digital electronics, electronics devices such as robotics,etc .besides practicals in hardware assembly, trouble shooting, LAN , Software Installations , Website creation and uploading, with the latest technology.

All students have to take compulsory training in Tally ERP in the specialisation of inventory management systems, production management systems and basic financial systems.

There shall be constant Projects and Assignments to be done by the Students on a continuous basis . They will also be required to do small creative projects for display and exhibition purposes.

Q11) WHAT IS THE MODE OF EXAMS ?

ANS: The University holds examinations according to its own schedule and convenience and in its preferred locations as per the UGC Circular Currently the exams are held at the University Campus , Sagar, M.P. The students have to travel to outside locations for appearing in the exams and, they will have to do so at their own cost and risks . The marks are evaluated on gradation system and not on numerical basis as per the present policy of the University for the technical courses on date.

Q12) WHAT IS THE MEDIUM OF STUDY ?

ANS: The medium of instruction and study is English. The lectures are done in English and then clarified in Bengali and Hindi for Hindi speaking students .Side by side the students take regular Spoken English classes so that after 3 months the students become comfortable in communicating in English. Daily study notes, questions and answers are given and also the Home Tasks given to be done daily.

Q13) WHAT IS THE STATUS OF EMCONS BUSINESS ACADEMY FOR RUNNING THE TECHNICAL COURSES ?

ANS: We are a 8 Year old reputed Training Institute imparting coaching classes and tutorial assistance on courses under Swami Vivekanand University, Sagar, MP. We conduct full time regular mode tutorial classes through experienced faculties to all our technical and nontechnical students to help them to succeed in the examinations conducted by the University and also doing relevant practicals and workshops as infrastructure at the Institute end. Emcons Business Academy will only provide tuitions, practicals, workshops, soft skill training, spoken English, grooming , industry and site visits, survey training etc and prepare the candidates for the examinations after providing initial information about the courses and admission assistance and also make them job ready for the market. We will also try to help in internships and placements assistances as extended help only to aid in employment. Please note that the Institute does not come under the scope of AICTE approval or under any approval of any Education Board or Department of any state. We are neither a Study Centre nor a Franchisee nor Affiliated Institute nor associated with the University.

Q14) WHAT ARE YOUR PLACEMENT CRITERIA ?

ANS: Minimum of 75% of class attendance and 90% of the internal exams is mandatory to get the placement assistance. Attendance includes components like doing daily homework, wearing uniforms, paying fees on time which if not complied are considered as absent. In addition to this requirement , the eligible successful should have a minimum of 7 score in the CGPA considering all the semester exams and atleast 60% average marks in the internal exams conducted by the Institute.

The placement offers will be given to the eligible students on PAN India basis and there should not be any choice as to the scope of work, salary ,grade, designation, location, etc either in core or non core companies. Placements Assistances will be given in Non Core Companies also and no decline of offers should be done. Companies expect a clear mindset amongst the students to do hands on technical jobs alongwith the core workers and employees and if this attitude is not there then the companies will not allow the students to sit for the campusing. Companies also demand that the students have atleast 75% in their attendances.

We have association with many Companies and they give us the mandate with full job profile etc which are shared to the students before the start of the campusing. If any student is found to be not eligible otherwise in respect of skill wise to face the campusing requirement then a special training for atleast 3- 6 months as the case may be will be provided to meet the challenges of the interview success.

All students will have to sign a declaration before sitting for the interview that they will not drop the offer if selected and if they do so then the placement will be considered as a decline from our end and no further placement assistances will be given to such students.

Q15) HOW ARE THE FEES TO BE PAID ?

ANS: In addition to payment of the one time Admission Fee the rest of the package fee has to paid in equal monthly instalment on the 5th of the month failing which the student is marked absent and after 15 days of non payment of fees the student is expelled from the institute.They may take up the study directly with the university if the university so permits at their cost and risks and our institute will not be responsible under any circumstance.

The Monthly Fee is divided into two parts - One part is the University Registration Fees, Semester Fees, Exam Fees, Re Registration Fees and the other part is our Institute Fees which comprise of tution fees of coaching 4-5 subjects per Semester, Regular Spoken English and ERP Training, Workshops and Practicals, Internships , Interview preparation, grooming,and finally the Placement Assistances. There are no further hidden cost .In the event of any increase in the fee structure by the University or imposition of new taxes or levies or cess by the State or Central Government then the fees of our Institute will be increased accordingly. NO DONATIONS OR CAPITATION FEES of whatsoever nature are charged.

Q16) WHAT IS THE ATTENDANCE CRITERIA ?

ANS: A student has to have minimum 75% attendance in class and 90% in Practicals and workshops and 90% in the internal exams. The following are criteria:
a) No uniforms, No attendance.
b) Home work if not done than marked absent.
c) If not found in class in 2 roll calls then marked absent.
d) If found disturbing class or handling mobiles other then study purpose then marked absent.
e) If fees not paid by 10th of the month then marked absent.


Q17) WHAT ARE THE TUTORIAL HOURS ?

ANS: All tuition studies are done on a 5 day per week basis ( excluding Saturdays and Sundays ) with duration of 4 hours. These tutorial hours can be extended or reduced or modified to suit the education needs and completion of syllabus. Monthly rosters are notified and changes made in lecture hours whenever felt necessary. No demand for change of tutorial hours will be entertained by the Institute and the decision of the Management will be final in this regard. Special classes for underperforming students shall be done on Saturdays and extended hours and on weekdays.


Q18) WHAT ABOUT BOOKS AND UNIFORMS ?

ANS: They are to be arranged by students at their own cost. Book list along with the syllabus will be given to students. Students will not be allowed to enter the class rooms without uniforms and they will be marked absent.


Q19) WHO ARE THE FACULTIES ?

ANS: Our faculties are mostly senior retired engineers of various companies and these faculties share their valuable experience with the students with various case studies and technical knowledge. The ratio of students to faculty is 30 : 1

Q20) IS THE INSTITUTE SAFE AND SECURE ?

ANS: Yes, the campus is under CCTV footage surveillance. Besides there is no ragging or politics in the campus. All indisciplined students are taken to task with guardian calls and monitoring the conduct which ultimately may result into expulsion if discipline is broken. The attendance is 75% mandatory. If less than 75% the students are not permitted to appear in the final exams of the university and the guardians are called in this regard.

Q21) CAN I GET HOSTEL ACCOMMODATION ?

ANS: You can avail Mess or Paying Guest accommodation at very reasonably cost locally and the cost to be borne by you. The institute bears no responsibility in arranging the mess or paying guest house which may kindly be noted.

Q22) CAN I GET ANY SCHOLARSHIPS OR CONCESSIONS ?

ANS: Yes. All SC,ST and OBC as well as Minority Students are presently eligible for getting scholarships as per the rules, regulations and present policy of the State or Central Govt. But it is to be noted that the fees to be paid excludes any such scholarship benefits and student should not withhold their fees on the ground that their scholarships have not been received or rejected. No Kanyashree Benefits are available presently as per the State Govt Policy for out of State University. Students Bus or Train fare Concessions are also not available presently.

Q23) WHAT IS THE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF LAST PASSED OUT BATCHES OF YOUR INSTITUTE ?

ANS: 76% of our students got CGPA over 7 score, rest got between 6.25 to 7 score.

Q24) ARE THERE ANY INTEGRATED COURSES ?

ANS: Yes there are also BTECH & MTECH, BBA & MBA as well as BCA & MCA Integrated Courses.

Q25) CAN I GET EDUCATION LOANS ?

ANS: Yes provided you satisfy the Bank's eligibility criteria and submit a guarantor in this regard.

Q26) WHEN ARE THE SEMESTER EXAMS HELD ?

ANS: Jan and July end every year. Results are generally declared within 4 months and marksheets issued after 2 months thereafter .

Q27) WHAT IS THE POLICY IN CASE OF FORCE MAJEURE SITUATIONS ?

ANS: In case of any change of Education Policy or Regulations of the State or Central Government or any change of policy by the University wherein the student is required to complete the course in direct association with the University then in such an eventuality the student will have to do the study as directed by the University and the Institute shall not be responsible in any manner for such eventuality. The fees will then have to be paid to the University directly so per the fee structure of the University. The same practice shall also be followed in case of any untowered or unavoidable or force majeure conditions prevailing at the Institute end.
